Bas van Huizen's Fiduciefret .. CDr .. 2009

On Fiduciefret, Bas van Huizen works with dense toneclusters and intricate microtonality, making much use of the effect of mass and of the interplay between harmonicity and inharmonicity. Narrative and tension are often built by means of subtle detail, with slight changes in tonality sometimes taking a piece into another direction altogether, or by means of force, overwhelming with spatially large & spectrally rich clusters.

The sources for the sound-material on the album were his (homemade) guitar, voice, and gourd flute, which were then sculpted by a variety of spectral manipulation software. Fiduciefret is part of a two-album project that will also include the album Glasgrazer (which will be available later this autumn). Both albums feature artwork by Jeroen Ijsseldijk.
